Air traffic over Cyprus declines by 83%, according to Eurocontrol

Air traffic over Cyprus went down by 83% last week, compared to 2019, according to Eurocontrol data.

In a message on twitter, Eamonn Brennan, the Director General of Eurocontrol, said that last Wednesday there were 199 flights passing through Cyprus airspace, 83% less compared to 2019.


The message also contains an animation of Nicosia FIR, depicting reduced air traffic due to restrictive measures aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19. It is noted that on a typical day 1,100 flights are handled by Cyprus, but since the lockdown traffic is down by 83%.
