The mayor of Aglandjia Municipality Charalambos Petrides and Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice Andreas Gregoriou signed on Friday an agreement for the leasing of premises by the former to build a park for children with limited mobility.
The land is located within the police headquarters in Aglandjia, Nicosia, and was handed over by the police in a gesture of social responsibility.
The park is an initiative of the Commissioner of Volunteerism and NGOs Yiannis Yiannakis who took on the coordination of the process and the sourcing of sponsorships.
The project will be implemented by Aglandjia Municipality’s technical department that will be responsible for preparing the relevant studies and floor plans, building supporting infrastructure, installing the recreational equipment and ensuring it is safe to use.
The municipality will also be in charge of the park’s maintenance using funds to be secured from sponsors.
