Ability of Bishop of Kiti to attend trial being examined

The trial of Bishop of Kiti Chrysostomos is expected to take place at the Larnaca Assize court, today behind closed doors. The bishop is being accused of rape.

His lawyer said that he was going to request a trial behind closed doors since there were going to be sensitive information regarding his client’s health. According to information, two medical experts are going to testify, one of them from Greece.

The offense reportedly occurred between 1 and 30 April 2011 at the high-ranking clergyman’s place of work at the time, that is the bishopric in Larnaca.

It is reminded that during the previous trial on 19 May, the Court ordered an investigation by an expert appointed by the psychiatric services.

On 28, 29, and 30 June there will be testimonies regarding the former Bishop’s medical condition.
