Α 78-year old man is wanted by the police after a Greek-Cypriot woman, who resides in the United Kingdom, reported to the police that he might have embezzled €1.44 million from her bank account.
The woman contacted the authorities, after she recently noticed, that the money she had been sending from abroad to her account in Cyprus was missing.
According to Phileleftheros, the crime is believed to have taken place between 2009-2013.
Τhe woman named her 78 year-old brother-in-law – who holds a power of attorney to manage her bank account and property in Cyprus – as the main suspect.
The man has not been located yet, after the police issued a warrant for his arrest on the suspicion of theft and money laundering.
