A seventy one year old man in Limassol was remanded in custody for five days following the discovery of videos and photos of children and minors sexual abuse on his home laptops and tablets.
He was arrested yesterday in connection with a case of access, possession and distribution of child pornography. He has admitted the offences.
Police received a tip off from Europol who were alerted when the suspect sent videos and photos to another internet user through a social media platform.
Following a search of the 71 year olds’ home, the electronic crime unit discovered and confiscated four laptops, two tablets, a mobile phone, eight electronic data hard disks, three electronic data storage devices, a USB and a memory card.
The electronic devices contained a number of files-both videos and photos, with child sexual abuse material. The devices will go through forensics.
The electronic crime unit is looking for possible associates and other connections.
