62 booked for breaking decree overnight

Police carried out 5,423 checks overnight and booked 62 pedestrians and drivers for breaking the lockdown decree — with Nicosia accounting for the biggest number of violations.

The following checks were carried out from 6 pm on Thursday to 6 am on Friday:

Nicosia: 2,209 checks, 27 booked

Limassol: 915 checks, 13 booked

Larnaca: 473 checks, 3 booked

Paphos: 1102 checks, 13 booked

Famagusta: 295 checks, 5 booked

Morphou: 167 checks, none booked

Police HQ traffic unit: 228 checks, 1 booked

MMAD: 34 checks, none booked

Police also carried out 919 checks on premises and found no violations.  (Nicosia 370 checks, Limassol 170, Larnaca 125, Paphos 131, Famagusta 69 and Morphou 54.)
