A 56-year-old man was remanded in custody for five days by the Limassol District Court on Sunday to facilitate questioning in a case of illegal possession of tobacco products not declared with Customs.
The man had been arrested yesterday by police at a Limassol warehouse they had placed under surveillance acting on a tip-off.
Police stormed in when they saw the suspect arrive at the warehouse and found a large number of tobacco products. Officers from the Limassol Customs Department were called to the scene and counted 736 cigarette packs, 225 boxes of tobacco sticks, 137 kilos of tobacco and 75.5 kilos of shisha tobacco.
