Relevant News

The number of coronavirus patients at Famagusta General Hospital has risen to 30 after seven new admissions last night, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

Three patients were also discharged yesterday after recovering.

Five of the 30 patients are in the increased care unit and the condition of one of them, an 80 year old man with underlying medical conditions, is described as extremely critical.

Meanwhile, the contacts of a member of hospital staff who tested positive last Thursday have been traced with 26 of the person’s colleagues testing negative.

The Cyprus News Agency said that because of the increase in the number of patients with Covid-19 at the referral hospital, there were thoughts of opening up the pathology ward too.

The patients are currently being treated in the gynaecological and children’s wards.

The hospital has 110 beds and another 10 for kidney patients in the Famagusta district who go for dialysis.

Meanwhile, a confirmed case has been reported in the Famagusta district land and surveys department in Paralimni and all employees have been put in self-isolation and samples have been taken.

The building has been disinfected and staff who were on leave have been called in to work as have staff from other districts.
