The Education Ministry is introducing three new measures to increase school security following the kidnapping of two pupils from a Larnaca primary school on September 25.
The measures were announced after a meeting on Thursday.
Senior ministry official Elias Markajis said that they will proceed in closing off the perimeters of all schools and will install controlled entrances with door phones. Also, security guards will be present in all kindergartens and primary schools from seven to eight in the morning.
Also under consideration, is the issuing of a school card for people authorised to pick up the pupils from schools, Markajis said.
