Police booked 299 drivers and pedestrians overnight for breaking the stay at home decree introduced as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.
A police spokesman told the Cyprus News Agency that 8431 checksĀ were carried out between 6 pm on Thursday and 6 am on Friday.
The breakdown was:
Nicosia: 5000 checks, 79 booked
Limassol: 2878 checks, 77 booked
Larnaca: 2569 checks, 53 booked
Paphos: 3812 checks, 30 booked
Famagusta: 1937 checks, 47Ā booked
Morphou: 947 checks, 2 booked
Police HQ traffic unit: 868 checks,Ā 11 booked
MMAD: 92 checks
So far, up until this morning police carried out 105,994 checks and 3301.
