24 legal consultants hired by Law Office to help with asylum seekers applications

Relevant News

Twenty four lawyers hired as consultants by Cyprus’ Law Office to speed up the process of applications submitted by international asylum seekers took up their duties on Monday.

Their fees will be mostly covered by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) which promotes the efficient management of migration flows, Philenews reports.

The Fund also promotes the implementation, strengthening and development of a common Union approach to asylum and immigration.

The legal consultants are on a year-long employment contract with the Law Office along with an additional five-member support team.

The management of migration flows presents challenges which cannot be dealt with by the Member States acting alone, the Law Office said in a statement.

It also expressed gratitude to over the bloc’s solidarity considering that Cyprus and some other member states bear a heavy burden due to their specific geographic situation.
