2330 drivers reported for driving offences in 3 days

More than 2000 drivers were booked for driving offences in the three days from Friday through to Sunday, of whom 160 involved driving under the influence and 723 for speeding.

According to a police announcement, traffic police reported a total of 2330 for driving offences over the period July 13 to 15.

Two bikers were caught driving motorbikes without licence plates. Neither had a driving licence or insurance.

In another instance a driver refused to stop, speeding off towards Nicosia where police managed to stop him. He tested positive in an alcotest with 30 mg, over the 22 mg limit. He did not have road tax and his front tyres were worn. He refused to undergo a drugs test and was arrested,

Police said that during traffic checks on Limassol’s coastal front three drivers were reported for driving without MOT. Limassol traffic police reported 75 drivers for offences, of which 44 were for speeding.
