Police said that 232 drivers were reported for driving under the influence of alcohol as part of a week long campaign against drunk driving carried out between May 6 and 12.
Overall, 2,473 drivers underwent an alco-test.
Police said drunk driving was one of the four main factors together with speed, seat belts and helmets responsible for serious traffic accidents.
It is also the second main factor in road fatalities, accounting for 22.7% of the total in the five year period 2014 to 2018.
