Rising prices on agricultural products, food in Cyprus above EU average

The Mediterranean island’s skyrocketing prices which seem to be here to stay have also been recorded in the EU’s recently released data on those on agricultural products and foods. In fact, Cyprus ranks first with a 12.3% rise within a year, according to Eurostat.

At the same time, the average rise in the EU is 8.9% with prices of food and agricultural products increase month by month and with the general index in the EU amounting to 8.1%.

In Cyprus, this increase is 0.5% higher than the EU average and has reached 8.6%.

Another significant increase in Cyprus is recorded in the meat category, with the index rising to 11.4% compared to an average increase of 9.1% in the EU.

It is 34.3% compared to 21.9% which is the average annual percentage increase in the EU.
