18,840 visit occupied north on October 1

It was a particularly busy day at the island’s checkpoints on Monday, which was a public holiday.

According to figures given by the Turkish Cypriot media, 18,840 crossed from the government controlled areas to the Turkish occupied north on that day, of whom 7,307 through the Ayios Dhometios checkpoint.

A total of 21,719 went in the opposite direction of whom 14,994 through Ayios Dhometios,  the media added.
