Relevant News

A 15 year old driver with two teenage passengers collided into a metal barrier and came to a stop against a tree on Sunday night in his attempt to avoid a police check in the Protaras area. There were no injuries.

Police said that at around 8.30 pm on Sunday a car exiting a car park entered the opposite lane of traffic on Protaras avenue where it almost collided with a police patrol car.

Police pursued the vehicle, sirens blaring, but the car sped off with the driver driving dangerously and recklessly in order to get away. At some point, the driver lost control of the vehicle which climbed on to the pavement, crashed into the metal barrier, went back onto the road and ended up against a tree in a field.

In the car was a 15 year old youth behind the steering wheel and two teen passengers, aged 15 and 14.

The driver had no licence or insurance. He and his father were questioned at the police station and will be charged at a later stage.
