14 year old driver arrested in Limassol after police chase

A 14 year old youth caught driving without a licence or insurance was taken into custody early on Friday morning after a police pursuit through the streets of Limassol, philenews reports.

It said at around 3.20 am, a police patrol in Germasoyia signalled to the driver to stop.

Instead he sped off, pursued by police, jumping a number of red lights in his attempt to get away.

The car finally came to a stop in Zakaki. Astounded, police found a teenager behind the steering wheel and another four teenagers in the car with him aged 15 to 17.

The youngsters were taken to the police station and their parents were called in to pick them up. The car belongs to the father of the 14 year old.

The father was charged in writing for allowing his car to be used by a 14 year old while the young driver was also charged in writing and will appear in court at a later date.
