Treviso residents were in for a different sight after a tank full of Prosecco overflowed, spilling some 30,000 litres of the white wine.
The video, showing a pool of the wine, was posted by the company on its Facebook page and quickly went viral.
It prompted a number of comments from readers who thought of taking a straw to sip up the spill.
Despite the loss of 30,000 litres the company expects production this year to be up from last year.
