A return to Cypriot tradition is the next step for The Powerhouse (Palia Ilektriki), which is a restaurant right inside the yard of the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre. On the new menu, owner Kostas Savva goes back to his roots where he grew up, Kyperounta. He learned to love the Cypriot outdoors and appreciate what nature’s gift. His favourite tastes and our familiar dishes star on his menu, which is based on seasonal products. Kostas goes up to Kyperounta once a week and picks himself all his first ingredients from his own local suppliers. So when you go to the Old Power House, you will have one of the meze items on the fixed menu. You ought to try the shank with mustard, honey and orange, as well as the homemade sausage with Commandaria wine. Keep in mind there will always be new dishes depending on the time of the year. On Wednesdays and Fridays there is Greek Night with live music, while successful theme parties continue to stay on throughout, and in the afternoons you can simply set anchor in the garden to enjoy drinks and mini bites after a hard day’s work.
