MoH allows arrivals of employees at drilling rigs in Cyprus’ EEZ

The Health Ministry issued a new decree on Tuesday allowing crew members of energy companies performing drilling activities in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone, given that they meet a set of conditions.

According to the decree, “the transfer and / or departure from the Republic of persons who are members of crews working at the drilling rigs in blocks belonging to Cyprus’ EEZ and / or on vessels providing support services to drilling rigs and to companies performing the drilling, are allowed by exception on flights held upon obtaining special permission from the Minister of Transport.”

It was added that these persons need to self-isolate for 14 days prior to their arrival, need to be tested for Coronavirus prior to their arrival and the results to come out negative, and their employer has the responsibility of their transfer from their arrival airport to the departure port.

With the new decree, the Ministry also allows “the temporary accommodation of health professionals and other staff working at Okipi to fight Coronavirus in hotels that have signed a relevant agreement with Okipi.”
