Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou has castigated irresponsible behaviour which endangers public health after a restaurant owner and a house help living at a care home both tested positive for coronavirus.
The two were among the 15 new cases confirmed yesterday.
Ioannou said a restaurant owner had a day earlier attended a birthday party for his 93 year old father with a number of family members.
The house help was living in a care home because her owner’s house was being renovated and was not taking any protective measures.
The use of masks is compulsory in care homes.
Ioannou said he has given instructions for both cases to be referred to police and the Labour Ministry.
Earlier, philenews had reported that the man is asymptomatic. He was one of the four positive cases from tests carried out by private initiative.
The woman and the owner have been living in the care home that has 45 residents and 15 employees, it added.
Other staff have been tested and the area is being disinfected, philenews said.
Contact tracing is underway in both cases.
