Man, pregnant woman arrested for illegal entry and impersonation

Police at Larnaca Airport arrested a man and a woman as they were preparing to leave Cyprus on suspicion of illegal entry into the Republic and using travel documents that are believed not to belong to them.

The man is in police custody whereas the woman, because of her pregnancy, has been released and accommodated at a Larnaca hotel police said in an announcement on Sunday.

The two presented themselves at immigration at Larnaca Airport at 4 pm on Saturday with intention of flying to a European country which police did not name.

Philenews said the man had a French ID belonging to a 19 year old and the woman a French passport belonging to a 35 year old woman.

Suspicions were raised that the travel documents did not belong to the suspects because they did not look like the two individuals in the photos of the documents Suspicions were also raised that the two had entered Cyprus illegally.

They were arrested. The man was detained while the woman is being accommodated at a hotel.
