Tonight will be mainly cloudy at intervals and local showers and/or thunderstorms are forecast as well as snow in the mountains and possibly in the semi-mountain areas. Winds will be strong while temperatures will fall to 5 C inland, around 7 C on the coasts and -4 in the mountains where there will be frost.

Saturday and Sunday will be mainly fine and on Sunday there will be increased cloud at intervals.

There will be a marked drop in temperatures on Friday to below average for the time of year but will move up to the seasonal average on Saturday. Temperatures will edge up further on Sunday.

Roads in the mountains are open for all vehicles but slippery because of ice and drivers are urged to be particularly careful and to drive slowly and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

Police said that the road network in the mountains is constantly changing because of the wintry conditions and drivers are urged to stay updated through the police App or the website.
