Mainly fine, more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon

Thursday will be mainly fine in most areas but clouds which develop at midday and in the afternoon are expected to lead to isolated showers and thunderstorms inland, the mountains and on the southeast and east coasts. Thunderstorms may be accompanied by hail.

Temperatures will be 34 C inland, around 29 C on the west coast, around 31 C on the remaining coasts and around 24 C in the mountains.

Tonight will be mainly fine but there will be increased low cloud locally, mainly in the west and north. Temperatures will fall to 19 C inland, around 21 C on the coasts and around 13 C in the mountains.

Friday will be mainly fine with local increased cloud at intervals. Isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected at midday and in the afternoon in the mountains and inland and possibly on the south and east coasts.

The weekend will be mainly fine but clouds that develop at midday and in the mountains may lead to scattered showers in the mountains.

Temperatures are expected to remain at the same levels on Friday except in the mountains and inland where they are expected to edge up but remain close to average for the time of year.

A further small rise is expected on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures climbing to a little above average for the time of year.
