Volt Cyprus MP Alexandra Attalides harassed online

Relevant News

Volt Cyprus MP Alexandra Attalides is again the victim of online harassment, with an unknown account being investigated by the police.

In the past, Attalides was harassed online by independent MP Andreas Themistocleous.

The new post was made on the X platform (formerly Twitter) from an account named “Amfitrinity,” stating the following about Attalides: “I think a couple of Muslims should rape you to come to your senses. What? You live in a protected area, and they don’t reach there? Soon you won’t know where to hide and in which hole to enter.”

Attalides reacted immediately, addressing the Attorney General in her post, and wrote: “Since you have never seen hate speech and targeting in my case and put the file in the drawer (referring to the Themistocleous post), tell us your opinion on this post. Is it a threat? Does it fall under hate speech?”

After Attalides’ post and complaint, the Attorney General, George Savvides, reacted and requested the Chief of Police to initiate an investigation.

In his post on the X platform, he wrote: “Having been informed about the following post, I contacted the Chief of Police. The post is being investigated by the police. I informed Attalides, who was also informed by the police.”
