Vasilikos truck drivers strike

Relevant News

All fuel truck drivers supplying from the facilities of Cyprus Petroleum in the area of Vasilikos engaged in a spontaneous two-hour work stoppage today, February 20, 2024.

According to a statement by the unions SEGDEAMELIN-PEO and OMEPEGE-SEK, employees of the companies CYPOIL TRADING LTD, GO NOW, MICHAELAS, STAROIL, and MELETHS stopped work “due to not being allowed to descend to the terminal for their basic needs, as well as to have a decent break between routes to eat and continue their work. They are also forced to park their tankers at the turn outside the terminal, fearing daily collisions with either trucks, other tankers, or private vehicles.”

As stated in the announcement, “all employees call on the Labor Inspection Department and the Minister of Labor himself to intervene to resolve these significant problems of the workers related to the Health and Safety sector.”
