Unsettled conditions bring rain and thunderstorms

Relevant News

A low-pressure system, moving in from the southeast, is making its presence felt across the region.

Expect a predominantly cloudy day today, with rain and isolated thunderstorms anticipated.

The initial impact will be felt in the western and northern parts of the island, gradually extending to other areas. Hail is also a possibility during thunderstorms.

Winds will predominantly blow from the southeast to southwest, locally variable, and range from light to moderate, measuring 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale. However, brace for potential changes and intensification of winds up to 6 Beaufort, accompanied by stronger gusts during thunderstorms.

Sea conditions will be smooth to slight, with the western and northern regions experiencing a bit more turbulence by late afternoon.

Temperature-wise, we’re looking at around 19 degrees Celsius inland, approximately 21 degrees on the coasts, and about 9 degrees Celsius in the higher mountainous areas.

As we move into Saturday, expect partly cloudy skies with intermittent cloud cover. Isolated rain and the occasional brief thunderstorm are on the forecast, particularly in the western half of the island. Troodos’ higher peaks might even see a dusting of snow or sleet.

Temperature-wise, Saturday will witness a slight drop, but a gradual rise is expected by Monday, maintaining temperatures close to the average climatological values for this time of year.
