Traffic collision trial postponed

Relevant News

Today’s proceedings before the Limassol Permanent Court regarding the quadruple fatal collision that occurred 30 minutes after the new year at a traffic-light-controlled intersection on the Limassol-Platres road have been postponed.

The lawyer representing the 44-year-old driver stated that his client is not ready to respond to the charges, noting that he has requested further evidence to be delivered to him via letter.

He requested time, and there was no objection from the Prosecution.

The case has been scheduled for a response on February 22 at 9 am.

The Prosecution requested that the defendant remain in custody until the next trial as there is a risk of flight.

The defense lawyer did not object to the detention request.

Relatives of the victims appeared in court, observing the brief proceedings.

The defendant faces 10 charges, 4 of which relate to the crime of manslaughter, which carries a life sentence.

The other 4 relate to the offense of causing death by reckless, careless, or dangerous act or behavior in violation of Article 210 of the Penal Code, and two charges for violating red and orange traffic lights.
