Today, the trade unions of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) announced their decision to afford time to the new management of the EAC, informing their members about yesterday’s meeting with the new management, during which “a convergence of views” was revealed.

In a brief statement also disseminated to the media, the trade unions stated that they had a meeting yesterday with the new Board of Directors of the EAC, “during which we were given the opportunity to extensively present the issues concerning the Organization, the Energy Sector, and the employees, as we had informed you in recent staff gatherings.”

“We express our satisfaction,” the trade unions stated, “as it became apparent that there was a convergence of views regarding the implementation of the strategic decisions that have been taken by the Organization.”

Furthermore, they announced that the Electricity Authority has undertaken the obligation to act immediately with the aim of implementing the decisions as soon as possible. Finally, they stated that, in respect of labor institutions, they are obliged to give “the minimum credit time to the new Board of Directors.”

It is reminded that the leaderships of the trade unions of the EAC have already been authorized by their members to take dynamic measures if necessary to address the issues that have been on the table of dialogue for some time.
