Tourists reportedly kidnapped, assaulted after meeting man on Limassol beach

Limassol Police are investigating a violent incident reported by two Latvian tourists, with potential charges including kidnapping, indecent assault, and grievous bodily harm.

According to a police statement, the 25-year-old women allege they were lured into a car by a man they met at Pyrgos beach early Tuesday morning.

The man allegedly drove them to a restaurant in Germasogeia as requested, but then diverted to a secluded area near a nightclub in Pyrgos. There, the women claim they were indecently assaulted.

In their attempt to escape, they sustained injuries. One woman suffered a fractured sternum and remains hospitalised, while the other received treatment for bruising and friction burns before being discharged.

Police indicated they are nearing identification of the suspect and expect to issue an arrest warrant soon.

The investigation is looking into potential charges of kidnapping, indecent assault, grievous bodily harm, and actual bodily harm.
