Every spring at the entrance of the village Polemi, a wonderful natural phenomenon takes place.
While Japan may boast blooming cherry blossoms, the small community of semi-mountainous Paphos possesses blooming peach trees, a comparable albeit on a smaller scale pandemonium of pink hues that creates enchanting images for the visitor or passing drivers.
Fields with these particular trees turn into a pink carpet during such periods, dominating among the green expanses of vineyards and other vegetation of the fertile plain of the community.
They may be less famous than the tulip growing in the area; however, peach trees are considered significant globally. Their blossoms symbolise spring, rebirth, and fertility, serving as great inspiration for painters and artists such as Van Gogh, while they are also considered the “tree of life of the earthly paradise” according to Eastern traditions.
Nevertheless, the spectacle they offer with their pink presence is unique.
