With marches and events in all the cities of free Cyprus, students condemned the 40th anniversary of the unilaterally declared occupied part of Cyprus as an independent state.
The declaration never achieved international recognition, with the northern section of Cyprus internationally understood to be under occupation by Turkish forces.
In its call to the student youth, under the slogan “REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS – FREE – REUNIFIED – COMMON COUNTRY – ONE PEOPLE”, the Pancyprian Coordinating Committee of Students (PSEM) announced marches in all provinces.
In Nicosia, students first gathered at 10:30 am at the Wholesale Market in Kaimakli and marched towards the checkpoint of Mia Milia, carrying Cypriot flags and banners.
In Limassol, the protest is taking place outside the Limassol District Administration, in Anexartisias Street.
