A large search and rescue operation for migrants was launched on Thursday night off Cape Greco when information was given to the Cypriot authorities that a boat was missing.
A helicopter and two boats from the Coast Guard and the Maritime Police conducted searches in the area.
Eventually, the boat had run aground on rocks, according to information from Philenews, and was located around 22:30 on Thursday night.
The 33 people on board, including children, managed to disembark and were taken in by the authorities.
The police are conducting investigations to determine who was the captain of the boat, which according to the people on board, departed from Tartous in Syria.
