A secretary at a European embassy resigned, accusing the ambassador of harassment in the workplace.
This development seems to be the tip of the iceberg as there are many problems in this specific embassy and therefore, the intervention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be considered necessary.
The resigned, in a letter to the ambassador himself, informs him that her last working day will be Friday, March 15th.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed about the resignation from the position of secretary/typist and about the ambassador’s behavior, which is expected to examine the reasons that led to the resignation of the said secretary, based on what she states in her resignation letter published by philenews.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on our website that they are aware of the resignation of the aforementioned embassy employee.
Depending on the complaint forwarded regarding the ambassador’s behavior, a preliminary investigation will be conducted, and it will be decided whether further disciplinary proceedings will be carried out.
In a letter from the complaining individual to the ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in a European capital, which philenews has access to, the following are mentioned:
“With this letter, I submit my resignation from the position of secretary/typist. I am unable to collaborate with you any longer as the continuous sexist, homophobic comments and remarks towards my colleagues, as well as the daily shouting and tension, are something I can no longer tolerate.
I wish you all the best and send my positive energy and mental strength to the colleagues who will remain, to continue enduring the toxic atmosphere created daily at the embassy by your behavior.”
