Public prosecutors strike over attack on colleague

Relevant News

Public prosecutors from all Courts in Cyprus are going on a full-day strike following the recent criminal act against a colleague.

This move serves as a gesture of solidarity towards the public prosecutor in Paphos, whose vehicle was set on fire.

In light of these developments, it is expected that all trials in the District Courts and some cases in the Criminal Courts will be postponed.

The new criminal act has once again caused disturbance, fear, and concern among public prosecutors, who feel defenseless against criminal elements.

This recent criminal act is the third recorded in the Paphos province.

It is worth noting that on December 21, a high-powered explosive device detonated at the residence of a 58-year-old public prosecutor in Anavargos, resulting in her minor injuries from glass fragments that shattered in a kitchen door.

The first attack against justice officials was recorded in 2016 when a bomb exploded outside the home of a public prosecutor in the Emba area.
