President Christodoulides met with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Friday during a state visit to Italy.
The President was accompanied by First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides and other members of the Cypriot delegation, according to a statement from the presidency.
The visit began with a private conversation between President Christodoulides and Pope Francis, followed by a broader meeting involving the entire Cypriot delegation.
During the exchange, Pope Francis presented President Christodoulides with a medal featuring Saint Peter’s Basilica, while in return, the President offered Pope Francis a silver replica of an olive tree, emblematic of peace.
Moreover, President Christodoulides and the Cypriot delegation convened with the Prime Minister of the Holy See, Cardinal Parolin.
The President’s agenda will proceed with a meeting at ENI’s Rome office, concluded the press release.
