Police investigate attempted murder in Nicosia

Relevant News

The police investigation into the attempted murder in Aglantzia is focusing on closed-circuit surveillance systems.

According to the events, the attempt occurred around 17:15 when the targeted man stopped at a kiosk on Larnacos Avenue, and his 17-year-old son, who was in the passenger seat, got out of the vehicle.

An unknown person, apparently waiting for him, opened fire as soon as the 17-year-old returned to the car, shooting at both the driver and the passenger side.

Two shots were fired, but neither hit the man nor his son, who was returning to the vehicle, nor his 15-year-old daughter, who was in the back seats of the car.

The bullets struck the vehicle’s window. The investigation is examining whether they were fired from a handgun or an automatic rifle.

The prospective victim is known to the authorities and is reported to have had connections with the recently murdered Alexis Mavromichalis.

Police forces arrived at the scene, conducting examinations to determine the number of shots fired.

Closed-circuit surveillance systems along the route taken by the victim during the attempted murder are expected to be scrutinized.
