Phoebe Coles has been selected to represent Cyprus as the flagbearer at the Commonwealth Day Service and Celebration, according to the Cyprus High Commission in the UK.
The Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration is an event that commemorates the Commonwealth of Nations. Organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, it will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, March 11.
Attended by King Charles, members of the Royal Family, UK and Commonwealth officials, diplomatic representatives, and members of the Commonwealth community, the day will feature reflections, performances, and readings representing the varied regions and faiths within the Commonwealth.
Phoebe Coles expressed her gratitude for being chosen as Cyprus’s flagbearer for the occasion. She articulated her pride in waving the Republic of Cyprus flag during the televised ceremony. Coles emphasised the significance of the moment, stating, “When I hold the Republic of Cyprus flag during the Commonwealth Day Service, I will hold in my heart everyone who lives across the island of Cyprus, the Cypriot Diaspora, and to all that calls Cyprus home. I hope to make everyone proud.”
