Pedestrian hit by car in Limassol

The Police are investigating the circumstances under which a 69-year-old woman was seriously injured when yesterday afternoon, while crossing the street as a pedestrian in Limassol, she was hit by a passing car driven by a 17-year-old.

The 69-year-old is hospitalized in Limassol, with her condition being out of danger.

Specifically, around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the 69-year-old woman was crossing the Agiou Athanasiou Avenue, in Limassol, through a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights, under circumstances being investigated by the Police, she was hit by a car driven by a 17-year-old, heading towards the roundabout of Linopetra.

Police officers rushed to the scene for examinations, while the 69-year-old was transported by ambulance crew to a hospital in Limassol, where she underwent medical examinations and was found to have suffered serious head injuries.

She was detained for treatment, with her health condition being out of danger.

For the purpose of police investigations, the 17-year-old driver was arrested under a court warrant and placed in custody.

From the examinations conducted by members of the Limassol Traffic Department, it was found that the car driven by the 17-year-old belongs to a relative of his. The vehicle is registered with the Road Transport Department as immobilized, and there is no valid certificate of roadworthiness (MOT) for the vehicle.

The Limassol Traffic Department continues its investigations.
