Turkish Cypriot parties issue statement against Israel

Relevant News

The ‘parliament’ of the occupied territories has released a joint statement condemning Israel’s actions against the Palestinian people.

The statement, bearing the signatures of representatives from various political parties, expresses strong condemnation for Israel’s acts of terror and aggression against the civilian and defenseless Palestinian population, particularly in Gaza.

The declaration, signed by leaders and representatives from the National Unity Party (UBP), the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), the Democratic Party (DP), the Revival Party (YDP), and independent members of ‘parliament’ states:

“We strongly condemn Israel’s acts of terror, violence, and the deliberate targeting of civilian and defenseless Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, which has led to a gross violation of the most fundamental human right, the right to life.

The abhorrent attacks carried out by Israeli security forces in Gaza and its surroundings, using all kinds of firearms and bombs, have resulted in the deaths and injuries of many innocent Palestinians, including infants and children. These attacks, which show no discrimination and also target civilians, have included the bombing of hospitals in the region, as well as exerting pressure for the evacuation of numerous hospitals. We, as the ‘TRNC Parliament’ of the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’, vehemently condemn this oppression and disregard for the rule of law.

We reiterate our strong support for the ‘call for a permanent humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza’ adopted by the United Nations General Assembly within the framework of international humanitarian law and human rights law. We emphasize that all UN member states should stand resolutely behind this call.”
