Paphos gas station relocates after 70 years

Relevant News

The implementation of the decision for the first relocation of a gas station from the commercial center of Paphos is historically significant, mainly for the prospects it creates in the near future.

For the past few days, under the management of the long-serving president of the Paphos Gas Station Owners Association, Andreas Kommatou, the gas station has transferred its operations to the brand-new facilities erected on Apostle Paul Avenue, leading to the port of Kato Paphos.

This move aims to vacate the space on Evagora Pallikaridi Avenue, in the city center, for municipal utilization.

The relocation of the first gas station from the center of Paphos, which has operated on a Turkish Cypriot-owned plot since 1948, follows the municipality’s and other entities’ long-standing efforts for the gradual relocation of these businesses outside the city’s central core.

This development gains particular significance today, as the area occupied by this particular gas station has already been included in the project for the Creation of the Historic Documentation Center of Paphos City and the Formation of the Environmental Space.

Consequently, it will be integrated as an integral part of the green space and access points to be created within the framework of the project.

The contribution of the Turkish Cypriot Management Service, Hellenic Petroleum Cyprus Ltd, and the gas station owner, Andreas Kommatou, has been significant in this direction.
