The Paphos District Court has issued an eight-day detention order against the 26-year-old man who was arrested yesterday as a suspect for the rape of a young woman in an apartment in Paphos.
The young woman reported to the police that she was raped by a man, whom she named.
The man in question is a 26-year-old who has been residing in Paphos for the past few years and was arrested in the early hours of today.
According to the young woman’s complaint, she was in an apartment in Paphos last night where the 26-year-old was also present.
At some point, as the girl alleged, the man approached her, and despite her efforts and refusal to proceed, the 26-year-old raped her.
Following the complaint of the victim, the police proceeded with the issuance of an arrest warrant for the 26-year-old, who was eventually located by the police in the early morning hours and was placed under arrest.
During questioning, the suspect made various claims which are being investigated.
Police investigations are ongoing.
