Relevant News

With temperatures soaring, the Ministry of Health is warning citizens to take protective measures.

State hospitals are on alert as forecasts predict very high temperatures throughout the week.

“People need to be particularly careful and take the necessary precautions,” the Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health, Elisavet Constantinou, told philenews. “Avoid unnecessary travel, especially until 4 PM. Citizens should also dress appropriately for the season. Light, light-coloured, cool clothing, sunscreen (applied half an hour before going out), hats, and sunglasses are essential.”

Special attention “should be given to vulnerable groups, especially the elderly, infants, and chronic patients.”

To this end, Constantinou mentioned that a circular has been prepared for all nursing homes, “which must implement all necessary measures to protect the elderly residents.”

State hospitals are also on standby. Charalambos Charilaou, spokesperson for the State Health Services Organisation, stated, “Our hospitals are ready to receive any number of citizens who may experience problems due to the heat. Given the forecast of temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days, hospitals must be prepared for any eventuality.”

The Department of Meteorology, according to its representatives, predicts that temperatures will exceed 40 degrees in the coming days and that very high temperatures will persist at least until Friday.
