As of last Friday, the Special ESTIA National Plan (level 3) was activated as a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Management Centre is fully operational and alert.
In addition, it is noted that, due to the closure of Jordanian and Lebanese airspace, four flights with a total number of 704 passengers bound for Jordan and Lebanon landed in Larnaca yesterday. The two flights to Lebanon departed this morning for Beirut, while one of the two flights to Jordan will depart for Amman this afternoon. The flights were carrying 101 Jordanians, who were provided with all necessary facilities until they departed for their destination.
Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos has been in constant contact with his counterparts over the last 24 hours.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor developments closely and will take all necessary steps.
