In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a large-scale rescue operation was launched off the coast of Cape Greco, following the discovery of a migrant boat in distress.
The Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) responded to the emergency after detecting the boat carrying 60 migrants, some of whom were found unconscious.
Rescue teams successfully evacuated five individuals, including three children, from the vessel. They are currently being airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The remaining people, who are reportedly in serious condition, are being transported to Ayia Napa Marina for further assistance.
The JRCC has deployed multiple ambulances to the scene.
