A 43-year-old Bulgarian man, Atanas Bornev, who was a permanent resident of Limassol, died in a collision on the Limassol-Nicosia highway near Kornos last night.
A 23-year-old man driving the other car sustained minor injuries.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. The cause of the collision is under investigation by Larnaca Traffic Police.
Details of how Bornev lost control of his vehicle are yet to be determined.
Bornev became trapped in his car after the collision and required extrication by authorities.
Both drivers were taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where Bornev was pronounced dead.
The 23-year-old received first aid and was subsequently discharged.
