The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR) has attributed the recent appearance of yellow substances along the Cypriot coastline to pollen, a natural byproduct of springtime tree blossoming.
Water samples were collected and analysed to reach this conclusion.
According to the DFMR’s announcement, the phenomenon appears more concentrated in the Limassol coastal area at present.
The department also noted that similar occurrences have been observed in past spring seasons.
