Leukemia patients in Limassol exacerbated over delays in chemo therapy

Relevant News

Patients with leukemia have been waiting for days for their chemotherapy therapy because Limassol General Hospital has exceeded its bed capacity limits, Philenews reported on Wednesday.

These patients do not have the luxury of any delay but doctors feel they should be treated safely and as appropriate.

As a result, a waiting list is slowly starting to be created and has already put both the doctors and the hospital management in a difficult position.

They have been trying for some time to find at least an emergency solution in order to serve patients classified as such.

However, as the days go by the anxiety of patients grows and in order to ensure that they get to be treated they are appealing to political parties and MPs for prompt intervention.

The Patients’ Observatory of the Federation of Cyprus Patients’ Associations, which is also monitoring the situation, has also rang bells.

The hematology department of the Limassol Hospital has a total of 14 beds, which are divided into four-bed and double rooms.

In many cases it is necessary to hospitalise leukemia patients  in a single room so that they are not at risk from other external  factors.
