The strike action announced for tomorrow at the General Hospitals of Larnaca and Famagusta has been cancelled.
The decision was made after consultations with the Ministry of Health, which requested time to announce measures for staffing the Internal Cleaning Department of Larnaca Hospital and the hourly workers at Famagusta Hospital.
According to information from the unions SEK and PEO, they were informed today by the Ministry of Health that the understaffing problem is recognized and a ten-day deadline was requested. For this reason, the unions convened emergency general assemblies and decided to grant the time requested by the Ministry of Health.
It is reminded that both the cleaners at Larnaca Hospital and the hourly workers at Famagusta Hospital had announced a 24-hour strike for Tuesday, February 27, due to understaffing.
