Heavy rainfall caused flooding on Tuesday, closing the bridge leading to Nea Ledra, Dali and disrupting traffic across the local road network.
Philenews reported that residents were stranded and unable to reach their homes due to the flooding. Footage accompanying the report showed a female driver narrowly escaping her car before it was submerged beneath the bridge.
Emergency services, including firefighters and municipal crews, were deployed to pump out the water.
In a separate incident, authorities closed the coastal road from Kivisili to Panagia Petounta in Mazotos, Larnaca, at 1:30 p.m. due to water accumulation.
Motorists were advised to use the alternative route of the main Kivisili-Mazotos road.
